Hi, I'm looking to upgrade the memory of a relatives T180 Desktop pc and was wondering what options I have if I keep the original memory in place. I was going to purchace 2 x 1GB Value Ram and from the information I have found the board supports up to 4GB. Im guessing this means 4x1GB max for each slot. The current specs bellow;

Acer - T180-UB7Z - Model: EM61SM/EM61PM
Slot 1/2 - 512MB PC2 4300 Hyundai Electronics
Slot 3/4 -Empty-

I have found 2x1GB Corsair PC2-4300 for £38. If I purchase this and fill the remaining slots can anyone confirm if this will work alongside the old memory of which 256MB is graphics.

Thanks :D

Should be fine, although sometimes RAM is picky about working with RAM of different latency. Can you check the latency in CPUZ?

Hi, thanks I will try and get the latency info later as I am away from their pc atm. Just a thought, does it matter about latency if the ram sticks are in their set pairs. ie pair 1+2 and pair 3+4 are seperate pairs so im guessing as long as the dissimilar latencies is kept seperate this would be ok?
I'm not sure myself wouldnt like to risk it for an extra gig. :D my old motherboard broke when i placed dissimilar crucial balistix in set pairs although that was silly as one pair had a slightly faster operating speed. but I have never before had a issue with using odd value ram sticks to test older pc's seems to me only the high end gear is more picky. again only my assumption im no expert in clock speeds etc

Hi I checked the Latency and the details are bellow

Current Ram: 512MB 1.8v 4-4-4-12 Hyundai
Extra ram: 1GB 1.8v 4-4-4-12 Corsair

both PC2-4200 guess this should be fine then :) thanks
