after a bit of advice/help.

A friend gave me his laptop to look at wasn't loading windows and kept coming up with a crtitical process died bsod. Tried to repair via usb windows tool , tried to reset via the recovery options but that failed. Tried to do a complete reinstall of windows 10 but it failed very early.

Tried to do a complete reinstall several times with several USB sticks but to no avail. Trying to install the OS to the 29GB EMMC disk. Windows install wont let me delete the existing partitions and start over. I've opened diskpart to find the disk is RAW and i've tried to convert it to NTFS but it isn't working.

I've also tried Partition wizard but it says its reformatted to ntfs but still shows the disk partitions as other/unformatted.

Anyone got any ideas how to fix this ?

You could try gparted to see if that can clear out the partitions, but if nothing is working it's likely that the drive itself is hosed and since the components on those things are normally soldered on the only thing that'll be good for is running linux live USB instances.

yeah my google-fu has come up with others coming up with similar issues and no resolutions :( its about a year old I think.. hope he has the receipt
