NVIDIA® G-SYNC Might not be worth paying any extra for if this is true

It is true.

DisplayPort 1.2a is a requirement and should appear on monitors towards end of the year.

Also iiyama informed me today they have being testing G-Sync and stated that a system with a 780Ti and one of their 1ms 144Hz seemed to get little improvement from it.

I've asked them for a G-Sync monitor so we can simply see it for ourselves. :)

Either way G-Sync will be here soon now, so not much longer to wait.

expect to see a Samsung 4k on the members market when this thing is actually released :D

My giddy aunt, they even think it will be shipping in Q2!

Well, thats it, I'm done. I'll buy at the end of the year so I have a better idea of whats available. Too much good stuff coming that I might miss if I rush into a purchase.

Whats the odds this Acer model lands before the swift? :p

Disabling vertical sync is a huge brick unattached to my mouse at 60hz. If Gsync is indeed removing this then that is huge. Maybe those people play with vsync off and put up with tearing? If so all they gain is less tearing and might go "meh" everyone else who feels plagued by vsync should be up in arms about finally waving goodbye to vertical sync and pre rendered frames.

Note that vsync could account for 40% of all lag on a game as Razer mice and keyboards at 1000hz are 1ms and the displays own millisecond count would be single digits. Add in cpu latency and you have your computers reaction time while gaming. Now add in Vsync triple buffered at 60hz which is 16.7ms alone without double buffering so 32ms saved by removing vsync.

I hope this gives asus a kick regarding the SWIFT

it might give it a swift kick in the price bracket too, as all these 4K's at £500, this acer one can't suddenly be £900 just for gsync (I would bloody hope), so the reported price of the swift will have to get a bit more reasonable as well

Yeah, but the swift is 120hz. How much is this one? Odds are it'll be 'just' 60hz. Anybody know any better?

I was planning on getting the ROG Swift but I've always fancied 21:9, however I didn't like the height loss a 29" model shows against a regular 27" monitor, Now the 34" is around I may scrap the Swift plan and go with that, Asus are taking way too long.
