Anyone able to help with this issue?

I have most of my drivers installed now but im missing one in particular, the display driver, there is a driver installed which is providing decent graphics to my laptop but its not allowing certain things like taskbar transparency .

Anyone have a solution to this?

Im not going back to Windows 8.

Thanks,

James.

What do you mean by not installed correctly?

Ensure you run the Windows Experience Index test for it to test out the new GPU drivers, that usually gets Aero to kick in.

Any idea what model your mousepad is? Acer doesn't seem to offer any downloads to the drivers on its site so need to get them off the manufacturer's site instead.

My last Acer laptop used Synaptics, not sure if yours does, but if it is, then this will install the drivers as well as the software for custom scrolling: http://www.synaptics.com/en/drivers.php

The driver is installed.

Aero wont work because it says the driver needs updating, Minecraft also fires out the same outcome which is odd because the device manager is saying everything is now installed, im confused by it.

If i right click on the desktop and click "Personalize" at the bottom it says "Troubleshoot problems with transparency and other Aero effects" when i click this and follow the steps the outcome result is the following:
"The current video card may support Aero with a driver that is compliant with the Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM). Contact the manufacturer of your computer or video card for a WDDM-compatible driver."

Im running the test now and im going to try locate the trackpad software, bare with me.

No idea what the mousepad is, looking into this now.

Thanks,

James.

EDIT: Graphics & Gaming graphics subscore is 1.0
EDIT: Msconfig shows the touchpad to be Synaptics, do i just need the driver or do i need some background software? Installed the driver, still no double finger motion to scroll.

Do you not see the Synaptics software in your program list? You need to use that to enable the double finger motion as well as other gestures.

Have you installed every other driver, including chipset ones?

I suggest running this to ensure everything is up to date (at least Intel related): http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect

EDIT: Managed to find the drivers here: http://www.acer.co.uk/ac/en/GB/content/drivers

However these seem to be for Windows 8.1 so may or may not work with 7. Even more oddly enough, they don't provide touchpad drivers.

I have "Synaptics pointing device driver" in my program list, on the mouse properties in the control panel theres a tab called "device settings" and has the Synaptics logo, if i click that and then click "settings" on the list there are only two options "buttons" which is a tick box and then "overview" which is expandable. From screenshots online that menu looks to have a lot more options. I can screenshot this if it helps you understand the unfortunate situation im in :(

Yes, all of the drivers via the device manager are installed fully and correctly with nothing showing an error? Its only during changing the theme to Aero i see the troubleshoot issue, also as mentioned Minecraft says my driver is out of date but the driver says it isnt?

Ive run the Intel driver update utility and that says the drivers are up to date? I cant seem to find the drivers on the Acer website, the only ones available are for Win8 and im trying to now run Win7.

Im confused.

Thanks again,,

James.

Thats my findings.

That suggests it's not using the Intel drivers, but instead the stock Microsoft drivers. In device manager, uninstall it, and try running the Intel HD Graphics driver installer I linked above a go again.

As for the mouse software with far more options, it seems you need to get them from Acer, which they provide with the drivers. Unfortunately as mentioned before, Acer oddly doesn't supply the mouse driver/software package for this laptop.

Every time in uninstall the windows driver and restart the laptop it automatically reinstalls the driver, driving me nuts.

I might have to email acer as when i reinstalled windows 8 the touchpad wouldnt work at all! Wasnt even in the list in control panel.

Thats 64bit, im running windows 7 32bit.

I tried for ages to do a clean install on this laptop of Win7. In the end just went with win8 and classic shell so it looks like win7.

Was a total pain to get a fresh SSD with win7 due to various driver issues etc.

Its doing my head in, cant find a driver so i have to use the windows driver which doesnt allow the HD to work and wont play games, tried to go back to win 8.1 and the driver for the display and touchpad both wont work.

Win 8 laptops are a waste of money.

I only wanted to get this for a little while to get me on so i can save up a little more for a macbook pro. Seems ill be getting that macbook a little sooner than expected.

I know - I removed the existing hard drive - installed a brand new SSD, win7 fresh install on it and spent about 4 hours trying to get various drivers to work.

Couldn't get network drivers etc working - gave up, used win 8.1 and installed classic shell so it looks like win7! lol

I couldnt get my touchpad working on Windows 8 :/

That worked 0_0

Thank you so much! I do want 64bit but im in no rush to try getting that working yet haha!

Honestly youve made me so happy helping me!

Thanks again :D

Try downloading and running this - should fix your issues. I dunno whether its worth updating all drivers or just installing the missing ones, but I've had good success with it
