Anyone used or own an acer ferrari lappy? Im looking at buying the 1005 12.1" one. Its pricey at 1.4k but the carbon fibre looks so darn nice and the specs aint that bad either. Just want to know what other people think about the ferrari line of laptops

If this is the one then personaly i would'nt buy it due to the price for performance you get.

Im looking for a laptop at the moment and the below one is very tempting.

Im holding out at the moment as the Geforce Go 7700 looks tasty and it wont be in laptops in the UK for a little while yet (october / november i've heard).

I bought one around 3 weeks ago for 700.

1.8Ghz
1gb of Ram
100GB HD
x700 mobility with 128mb dedicated memory
And all the gadgets such as wireless/bluetooth

I have to say i am really really pleased, its and awesome laptop with a great design and built quality. I would highly reccomend.

nice spec, but to be honest the important thing for me is screen size and cpu, ive been using 12.1" laptops for the best part of a year now and im just too used to this screen size to buy anything bigger. anyone care to suggest any alternatives for an ultraportable?

Dell XPS M1210 £1100

12.1" WXGA Screen
1.98Kg
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T7200 2.0 GHz 4 MB Cache
1024MB 533MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM
120GB 5,400rpm Hard Drive

Intel® Media Accelerator 950 Graphics Up to 256MB shared graphics memory
9 Cell 80Whr Lithium Ion Primary Battery
Intel Pro WLAN 3945 Internal Wireless 802.11a/b/g 54 Mbps

A bit heavy though, only 1Gb because it's way cheaper to add your own than pay £200 for another 1Gb of ram from dell.

£200 for a gig, dear lord!

ive seen the following spec on sale for £1000. just gotta decide if its worth 300 more on the ferrari which has a similarish spec but no internal drive and is a lowish turion x2 an not a nice core duo
