Yo dudes, I have a bit of a strange problem with the above monitor, I have bought the monitor second hand for a bargain price however when setting it up Im having an issue,

If I use a dual link DVI cable the monitor will do 120HZ but will give an electrical whine sort of noise when scrolling up and down web pages, also if I google anything and click on images it will whine when scrolling up and down that page (which is now full of images)

Still with me great.... read on

However If I connect a standard DVI cable there is no electrical whine and the monitor appears perfect however wont do 120HZ with this cable,

What are the chances I have a duff Dual Link cable or is there something I am missing ?

Cheers guys!

If it helps I have a 5970 Black edition ATI graphics card, could that be a factor, Do graphics cards need to support Dual Link  ?

Hi

I have this monitor ive had it since release and mine has the same problem when set to 120hz.

I think its capacitor whine or something it does not seem to happen when set to 60hz like you say but the whole point of this monitor is the 120hz.

I no longer use mine anymore i got fed up with the noise and i never found no fix for this :(

Hi mate,

Thanks for the reply, I purchased a new DVI-D cable from work yesterday (same cable as the OcUK Value at £5.99) and it has helped a great deal, the noise is still there but only slightly, If I hadnt of known about the sound to begin with chances are I would have never realised as its that feint.

With this new cable I can use this monitor on a daily basis now at 120HZ and live with the feint whiney noise, with the other cable I couldnt have done,

Give a new cable a try mate if you still have the monitor, you'd be suprised at the difference it makes (unless of course your's really is a hardware problem)
