Looking at getting a Laptop to replace my home computer mainly for mobility reasons, found a really good deal on a Gemstone which really does look nice but I have read reviews and it all comes down to Acer making poor quality laptop's and poor aftersale's is this true?

That is actualy similar to the one I am looking at, same price but 17" screen with Athlon Duel Core instead of Intel sold by a well known food store, I just think it is too good to be true tbh. I only want a laptop for just using skype, typing up documents and browsing the web and the specs seemed to suit me.
