Been trying to fix a friends laptop for about a day now without much luck. Did a restore as it was clogged up with useless rubbish, definitely runs a lot better now. However I am trying to fix the wi-fi for her as she couldn't get connected at her uni halls.
It connects fine via ethernet but that is unavailable at her halls so she needs the wi-fi working. Now the wi-fi can see all available networks, it can not however decide to connect to my network consistently.
Sometimes it will connect fine on startup, then drop repeatedly and never really function. Others it will try to connect and simply say it cant, on attempted diagnose and repair it says troubleshoot low signal (this is not the issue the laptop is less than a meter from the router)
Essentially I need to get this thing working. Currently I have tried:
- turning off the acer enet crap - No success.
- Install new drivers for wireless card - no success (latest listed on acer webby and atheros)
- Disable Ip6 - no success.
I have another laptop sitting beside it connected via wi-fi as I type, it has exactly the same wi-fi card (atheros 5700EG)
Can anyone suggest what to look into? at my wits end currently
