Hiya, a women at work just gave me her laptop to look at and i'm pretty sure that its the power connection at the back that is broken. Basically the laptop will not power up, i get the power light come on, but with nothing else. If i fiddle with the power lead i see the charging light come on, but only for a split second then goes again.

She is going to see if she has another Acer power lead to try, if not, i said that she could prob get the power socket replaced on the laptop. (its only an old 1360 Acer so no warranty).

Does anyone know or could recommend a place to get this done? If local then all the better i guess (Dorset).

Thanks

Be prepaed for a big bill though if from pc shop. Had a mate that got the same thing done and they charged her £140 and even used a non genuine replacement jack that they glued to the mb instead of soldering it...cowboys!!!

Fixed it myself for her for quiet a bit less. Fair bit of dismatling involved but there will be guides around if you fancied trying it yourself.
