Just got hold of an Acer Aspire 5738
It has a silly issue that I am wondering about.
Ok, firstly, if you have the PSU plugged in when you shut down, it resets the date
If you have the PSU plugged in when you switch it on, its ok until it starts to boot up, then all I see is a blank screen... It has XP on but it also does this with a linux live CD. It hangs.
The battery is seemingly stuck at 92% however if you dont plug the PSU straight into the Laptop as soon as windows starts up, it wont get to the desktop because there is not enough power in the battery.
I would like to remove the battery and run it on the PSU full time, but again, I have tried this and we go back to the Resetting of the date and the not starting up with it plugged in.
Lots of catch 22s that means that the PSU must be plugged in to use but must be removed to shut down and to start up.
Has anyone any idea What on earth could be causing that?
