Thank you for taking the time to look at my question. I have an Acer Predator G6-710 that I bought through ill health retirement a number of years ago. A quick rundown of the system:

  • 6th Generation Intel Core i7-6700K Processor 4GHz (8MB cache)
  • 32 gig of ddr4 ram
  • A GTX 980
My question revolves around a potential upgrade to increase the longevity of the PC. I was wanting to maybe upgrade the GPU to a 3060 but the connector pins on my 980 are two six pin connectors. I think the CPU is still decent for a year or two, but i dont know if im howling at the moon here or if it's a viable option to upgrade. The bespoke case the Predator comes in is really tight, and im under no illusion that i'm not going to fit a larger GPU inside. It was an impulse purchase at the time, and the 3440 x 1440 monitor that came with it had no right to be there in hindsight due to the lack of horse power. I have since sold the monitor and just using a Samsung at 1080P.

I have a link to the product page but can't seem to find any information relating to psu etc.

I wondered if I had any options open to me?

Many thanks

Nick

If it can run a 980, then it shouldn't really have an issue with a 3060, though the spikes on modern cards are no joke. Are there two pins split off from the six pin connectors?
