hey guys,

i finally took the plunge and bought an acer aspire revo 3700.

i was thinking of building a htpc machine, but decided this would be more cost effective.

anyway, the revo 3700 comes with linpus pre installed. i didn't see this as a problem, as i had plans to install windows 7 ultimate over it.

i did the usual, hit del and changed the boot sequence to usb and saved the settings. i installed windows 7 bootable onto a 8 gig USB pen. using the windows 7 tool. i know for sure the usb pen is bootable, as i have tried it on my pc and laptop.

for some reason the Acer revo 3700 wants to boot up the linpus, despite me changing the settings. i have changed the quick boot in bios, but the machine wants to boot up in linux.

Any ideas?

thanks.

It does work as I pulled the 160GB drive in mine, replaced it with a 30GB SSD and rebuilt from Windows 7 on a USB stick.

I'll double check what I did when I get home.

i have taken a screen shot of the BIOS screen and the advance BIOS feature screen.

as you can see, i have changed the boot sequence.

What am i doing wrong?

on some of my new machines(such as the HP Microserver), i find that the USB drive actually appears under the HDD section, so see if it appears there and change the order of the HDD's (Hard Disk Priority)

Regards

i changed a setting under hard disk priority to "ARM". It was on "auto" before. That changed allowed me to boot off USB, however i had to change it back, once the files had been copied. As it was stuck in a loop, due to no hard drive detection.

it wasnt obvious. i messed about with it for hours and didnt find much info on the net.

anyway, XP is a lot slower to boot than linpus.

Try this works for me boot from usb stick let windows install files then after its installed so much of windows your pc will want to restart so before it gets to bios remove usb stick then stick it back in after its gone past bios or it will boot loop.
