The boss is after a new pc for daily usage and has asked me about these acer aspire's as they can be had for around the 200 mark now with W7.
Would it be suitable for running office/sage 8 hours a day ? no over heating problems etc?

Sage as in the accounting software?

Using Sage or an office application or browsing will be fine; the issue would be doing 2 or 3 of these at the same time. Whilst the Atom can do this level of multi-tasking it's likely to be a bit sluggish.

It's likely to have office & sage and a few web pages open at once, even though it's dual core you reckon it'll be sluggish ?

even though it's dual core a single core pentium 4 is faster than an atom :( so for multiple apps and stuff like sage you'd be better getting something a little more powerful.

You can get mini-itx cases that can be bolted on the back of monitors (like the revo) that can house significantly more powerful computers for pretty low prices.

Zotac, DFI and others all make mini-itx boards that can house 775 or the new i5 processors.

A low power 775 CPU would be perfect for your boss.

Heat isnt an issue.. I have 2 of these.. one is on 24/7 and fan noise isnt an issue.. in fact I dont think I ever hear it except if I reboot :D

Yer acer revo is very good as htpc but for pc im not so sure it wouldnt take much to slow it down.
I use mine mainly as media player which is great and a little internet and downloading.
