My laptop has died this morning it worked fine then I came to use it again later on and nada. Upon clicking the power button you get no power at all also no lights to say it is charging etc I tested my charger with a multimeter and it works fine and tried powering with battery out and still nothing. Ive had it apart and checked the power supply connector on the mainboard and the solder joints are fine after peicing the laptop back together it fired up fine but just said the date and time are incorrect and warned cmos had been set to defaults. But I then shutdown and now it wont fire up again. Any idea what is causing this??? It's not a software issue thats for sure.

The cmos on the notebook is connected to the pc via a black/white cable that has the battery coverd in a blue plastic that seals it in from contact. So it doesnt sit bare on the board... How do you replace these as I have loads of cmos batteries.

Just tested it by peeling it back slightly and I get round about 3V which would be right.

Tried holding down power but nothing not even any noise of power.

Last time i took it apart and peiced it together it worked but it worked as soon as i put the battery in place I didnt click the power on to power it up it just started loading. But after shutdown nothing like it was originally before i took it apart.

What we thinking then, that something has gone on the mainboard? Or is there any other suggestions?

Cheers All
