After purchasing my Acer Aspire 6530G laptop from Ocuk I ordered my upgrade to Windows 7 ages ago with the Acer website. Originally it stated I would be charged when the delivery had been shipped. So far ive waited ages just to be told Ive been charged but its now been ages since then and my order has not been shipped yet.

Calling acer as always proves to be a useless endevour as you only seem to get a bunch of incompetent morons on the phone who just deny everything.

Anyone else having similar problems?

My step-daughter got hers delivered this week, so they are sending them out. With the postal strikes and backlog, I'd give it another few days to a week before I started panicking. :)

My dad got his last week too, the upgrade disc is a duo set and takes basically AGES to install.

Works fine after though.

Please tell me it does not come spammed with loads of extra crap software like the vista one did :(

I was charged on the 23rd October and received my upgrade on the 3rd November, posted 27th October from Brno in the Czech Republic.
The upgrade is two discs, an Acer disc and the Windows 7 disc. I ran the Acer disc and after updating some the Acer software and restarting it told me that my laptop model was not upgradeable  so I ignored it and just ran the Windows disc instead.
It did a flawless upgrade of Vista Home Premium and I'm very happy with it.

It kept all the factory installed stuff (didn't wipe the hdd during upgrade, it did an actual "upgrade" so could not say but the discs are both branded Acer although disc 2 contents appeared to be stock Windows 7 from what I could tell.

Thing is im running the laptop from XP as the performance in Vista was terrible even after uninstalling the extra software.

Hopefully making that choice wont give me too many problems

aye that shouldnt affect me too much as I have not really installed much on the laptop. Just been using for basics :). Just hopefully the installation discs from acer will be fine and not crammed with tonnes of spam software like vista was

Hi, perhaps you are using the wrong description, Acer laptops do not come with spam, some would say it was bloatware, but then the majority of manufacturers laptops come with this anyway. I use several different Acer laptops, some with XP and some with Vista, and, once properly setup, Vista is quicker than XP and only slightly slower than win7, nd there are plenty of performance tests out that that say the same. However to reassure, you, and as far as I know, those who have used the Acer upgrade disc have not complained of any 'bloatware'...
Chris

does that mean that it only provides us with an upgrade disc instead of a full installation of windows 7 :O ? I dont have vista so Ill need a format and full install.
