Can someone help I am trying to find ways of playing 4K movies on my Computer

1. If I buy a UHD Blu-ray player HDCP 2.2 and HDMI 2.0 can I plug it into a HDMI 1.4 on a 4K monitor with only a HDCP1.2?

2. Or can I stream 4K Netflix movies/ buy the 4k movie and download it from prime then watch it on my computer with a HDCP 2.2 GPU but with a HDCP 1.2, 4K monitor?

3. Another option if I buy a 4K UHD player for the PC will it play 4K movies on a GTX 1080 TI. DP1.2 @60p? or will my monitor be a problem again!

MY GTX 1080 TI is HDCP 2.2, HDMI 2.0. 4K But my Monitor is only HDCP 1.2 and HDMI 1.4 my question is how can my GTX run a HDCP 1.2 monitor when HDCP it is not backwards compatible. ....do you know this answer? I have search online but still can't find this question to solve my problem.

And Acer never answer any questions about their monitors I have tried but got no where

Thank you for your time in reading this.........

It looks like HDCP 2.2 is a requirement to get 4K content from a UHD Bluray onto a monitor - you're constrained by the limitations of the 1.4 HDMI port and Displayport 1.2 on this model I'm afraid.

Another thread on this topic here https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/4k-blu-ray.18777597/

A good article on the PC requirements here https://www.extremetech.com/computi...-ray-burners-pack-4k-playback-16x-burn-speeds

Thanks for the links, everything in my PC can run 4K but not the display, It's a nightmare trying to find the display HDCP number Acer just say it compatible with GTX 1080 ti but will not give the number out and most reviews online some say the Acer XB321HK don't support HDCP and just a few say it do but only HDCP 1.2 so I am confused I know my GTX card have 2.2.

all because of this HDCP & HDMI must be on both the devices with the same number, so what happens to all the people who buy their 4K Tvs with no HDCP and only 1.4Hdmi do they lose out as well?

There maybe one solution for your problem - have a search for HDCP converters - old thread here successfully solved the HDCP 2.2 issue https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/bypassing-hdcp-2-2.18762925/

This assumes that the monitor is HDCP 1.4 - but very little information available to confirm the spec of the Acer so it is a risk.

And yes, early adopters of 4K were also stung by the HDCP 2.2 fiasco and had to upgrade kit - new standards are a minefield and consumers often get burnt

You save the day Thanks for the link again I will buy the HDCP 2.2 to 1.4 converter from amazon, they say it works with there 4k TV & UHD player so I will give it ago I hate Acer for not tell me the HDCP number & I will never buy their crap again:mad:

I read somewhere that a HDMI 1.4 only works with a HDCP 1.4, I hope that is true! for my crap display, but as I have said before my GTX card is HDCP 2.2 and they say the new HDCP is not backwards compatible to 1.4 But my GTX is using the DP1.2 on the display and it reads your GTX & Display is HDCP compatible that part is what I can't understand:confused:.

What I will do first is buy the UHD player with a high speed HDMI cable for a test and plug it in the display if I get the HDCP 2.2 error I will know that this display is not compatible and I will then use the converter and if I can't get it to work I just buy a Blu-ray player.
