Considering a new screen
ATI 480 8GB
LG 29" 29UC88 1900x1080 75hz
LG 34" 34UC79G 1900x1080 144hz
Acer 34" XR342CK 3440 x 1440 75hz
The two LG's I'd be able set native in games, the 480 will be fine.
If I choose the Acer, desktop will be native but games would be a lower resolution and then scaled up. But that means I'll get 75fps+ in games which means it's no different to my 60hz standard monitor with vsync? It'll just vsync it to 75hz.
The LG 29" is less height than my 24" so it's a downgrade there. But higher PPI than 34" 1080p and similar to what I have now (95PPI)
The LG 34" will be better for higher fps but maybe lacking fine detail in sniper games, requiring more AA to compensate for lower PPI. Not great for desktop.
But Acer 34" fab for desktop use but no way native gaming, and for scaled gaming freesync out of range. But it'll be a better monitor for future gaming use.
I would like LG 34" 1440p to be 100hz, that way scaled gaming would be freesynced to 75hz- 100hz
The 34's are also a bit big
