Never heard of this company - are they any good? Was thinking of purchasing some of their wares. Are they well thought of are they the computing equivalent of Bush?

They tend to be budget, however I have never had a problem with their stuff (admittedly only ever had one thing). What were you looking at?

I was looking at an Acer laptop with these specs...

AMD Turion 64 2.0GHz
120GB hdd
1GB RAM
ATI Radeon Xpress 1100

Not really used for gaming [nothing high-end anyway, Maybe Quake1 :p]. mostly playing music and surfing.

Seems OK?

You would be surprised at what that onboard card can do. I have the Xpress 200 (cut down version of the radeon X300) and i could play CSS and HL2 on medium. That onboard looks like a very cut down X1300, so you should play source games and other games ok on it.

Sorry Service Level Agreement..
I have sold ACER for years as i used to a B2B salesman for years and have found them to be a pain, but saying that they are always so good value....

swings and roundabouts...

Never heard that term before, are we talking about warranty work? What can and can't be done under it?

Its mainly if something does go wrong dont always expect a quick turnaround.

But this can change a little from vendor to vendor so what i would say is email the vendor and see what the arrangement its with acer also what the dead pixel policy is..

hope this helps

How much are you paying for that?

I can run Farcry on my x1150 graphics (1280x800, low settings) and Max Payne 2 (1280x800 medium settings) with a 1.6ghz dual core turion.

Yeah my Dell came with a load of crappy software, namely Vista which soon got replaced :D

Personally I would (and did) wait for Dell to have a good offer on. I got mine for £360. Basically the same as the Acer but with x1150 graphics and a dual core Turion 1.6ghz.
