Acoustic Energy Aego M 2.1 Speakers PLUS Acoustic Energy Aegis Compact Speaker good?

maybe yes, the aego M does have a connection for a centre so it should work, as for how good that actual speaker is, i dont know

Won't they wire up different though? I'm guessing the Aego M satellites connect through some sort of single phono connecter like most PC speakers, whereas that Aegis Compact being a proper hifi speaker will probably have +/- binding posts. Hopefully someone with the Aego M can confirm this.

Maybe they sell the satellites seperately (you could buy another for a centre) or they make a centre specifically for the Aego M since they have the centre connection.

yeah ive emailed them, do you think its worth wile geting a centre, or a PCIMA audigy 2 ZS card, i'm running a sony vaio SZ laptop great audio but not sure what difference it would make getting a PCIMA card.

Dunno. I don't really understand why they include the centre input/output on those speakers, because AFAIK there's no such thing as 3.1 speakers anyway. I can't set my Audigy 2 to output 3.1 for instance.

I dunno whether the Aego M upmix from 2.1 to 3.1 or need a centre input. If they don't upmix you would have to set your soundcard to 5.1 to get anything coming out of the centre, but you wouldn't hear rear sounds at all. You would have to buy seperate powered rear speakers.

You really need an Aego M owner in here to tell you. I'm sure they sound fine just as a 2.1 set though without a centre.

Yeah. Go for the 2.1 package and leave it at that. You won't be disappointed.

P.S. Bah, they cost me a hundred quid not long ago.

isnt a centre a mix of left and right?

Indeed go for the 2.1 Aego M. I have a set of these and the what hi 5 star rating really is quite deserved for a 2.1 set that has a pair of small sattelites for which i can cover the face of each with the palm of my hand. great for those who like lost of space on thier desktops!

aparently the centre is where you connect the expansion to 5.1 kit! makes sense now! can't afford that but will get a set of these, black or white?? anyone got some hires photos for me?
