I bought a set of these for my new conroe build a couple of months back and have been totally blown away by them! :D

I came into some money at Christmas and I'm considering wither or not to buy a set for my plasma screen TV in the livingroom?
I don't have an amp/av receiver, my plan was to connect the speakers directly to my tv's audio out connection on the back of the screen. Is this a good idea? or should I save up for a proper home cinema system?

Don's: if you feel this should be in home cinema rather than sound city feel free to move it :).....wasn't to sure where to post it!

I have some creative soundworks 4.1 speakers I now use for telly - I only use them as 2.1's and I think the sound is superb. Thing is most TV broadcasts are 2.1 anyway.

EDIT : I think the older creative's sound beter than new - Recenly a friends swapped her 7.1 Creative I-Trigue for my set - I thought she was mad at the time - she wanted smaller speakers. But soon as I heard them I had to have my set back. Altho all the speakers on mine are smaller (including bass) It gives a much punchier and warmer sound than the iTrigue's which just sound hollow, harsh and boomy.

Older "Creative" sets were designed (and presumably built?) but Cambridge soundworks and just distributed by Creative. As time went by, Creative designed and manufactured thier own sets to cut costs. I believe thier Gigaworks and higher end sets are still Cambridge designed, but the cheaper stuff is now quite inferior since it is not designed or built to the same standard :) .

We have the old 4.1 set downstairs (which carries Cambridge soundworks badges), it isn't great but agreed it is miles better than the modern T6060 set my brother has (which probably cost more too).

Oh, and OP. i'd definately try it, it only costs as much as an adapter (ie, very little). If you don't like it then consider moving to full HT :)
