Hello,

I am planning to upgrade some bits and bobs and I need some advice on noise. In terms of noise producers on my current set up -I am using a define r3 with 3 fractal 120mm fans attached to the dinky fan controller that comes with the case. I also have an akasa venom with the default 120mm fan that comes with it sitting on top of an [email protected] (there is also the fan on the 6870 but I plan on upgrading it to something with a bit more oomph anyway).

I believe that the cpu cooler fan is the real noise maker here, so the most important to replace... any suggestions? There seem to be a lot of "quiet" fans around, but I don't want to go backwards in terms of cooling performance (right now the cpu sits at around 70 degrees when running prime95).

Additionally, the fractal fans are great but is it possible to do better? I have heard good things about scythe fans... does anyone have any experience with them?

Thanks in advance for the help.

PB

p.s. I just read a great piece that some of you may find interesting. Apparently, my current fan set-up (two intake fans at the front of the case and one exhaust fan at the back) is one of the worst you can have...
