"Acquiring network address"?

I have a Hawking wireless network extender bringing wifi to my bedroom. My Vista laptop connects no problem to the extender but my XP Pro EEE Pc will connect to the network but just stick on "Acquiring network address" and never gets internet access.

When I first had the extender it connected fine. I've tried resetting everything but to no avail.

Any ideas?

have you run out of adresses in your DHCP scope?

You may have some leases that are still valid for devices that aren't connected anymore

Try giving it a static IP address rather than a dynamic one and see where that gets you (ie ping the router etc)

Tried static ip, didn't work.
