vista set see's it ok, but bootable acronis cd cannot see it

raid0, using two raptors on the intel controller


any settings i can change to see it? -don't mind reformatting if i have to
 
there is no way round this, acronis has to integrate the raid drivers themselves.

The only other solution is to create a Bart PE CD, integrate your raid drivers then integrate the true image plug-in. Its long winded but it works very well.
 
i figured there might be some kind of raid option in the bios that makes it appear as an IDE drive

not to worry, forgot acronis gives you a bartpe plugin :) will make it tonight
 
got that working, but it takes ages compared to the ati live cd to load

it does work tho


you'd think acronis would include intel's drivers :S

anyone know if they have any mini-updates that can add them to your live disc?
 
I don't know if booting in ATI safe mode will work or not, but you could login to your account on the Acronis website and download and install the safe mode plugin for ATI 11 and create another recovery CD that includes safe mode, all you can do is try.

Safe mode wont work, it has less driver support although I'm alarmed that there is no intel raid driver in version 11. The problem with acronis is that its completly locked out, if a raid controller isnt supported then thats it, only acronis can add driver support.

The best way is the BARTPE method because its tried and tested, works everytime and is only dependant on you having an XP RAID driver for any RAID controller.
 
quick question, can bartpe be booted from usb?

or is it not without a bit of faffing like with booting the xp installer from usb
 
found this after some digging on acronis forums


Please try the following workaround:

Please boot your computer from the Acronis True Image rescue disc and press F11 key when the selection screen advising you to select either "Full", "Safe" or "Boot into Windows" option appears. After you get the "Linux kernel command line" prompt, please modify it in the following way:

quiet acpi=off noapic

click on the OK button then and choose "Full Version". That should allow you to use Acronis True Image in some special cases. Please submit a request for technical support describing the issue if you want to automate the process of adding these special parameters.

I tried once and could'nt get it to work, I created the CD knowing it will work everytime and have had no issues even across multiple generations of hardware P3, P4, Athlon XP/64, Core2/QUAD...

You can initiate a Restore operation from within the OS (using ATI), at which point it then boots into DOS, this is what I am referring to, instead of using the ATI boot CD, to boot straight into it in DOS and initiate the restore operation...

yeah, of course, it uses the windows drivers then

the acronis boot cd is linux, so they need to use a version of linux for it that has the drivers for my intel controller

hope they get back to me soon :0
 
I meant to post in this thread a couple of days ago, but got waylayed on another forum. I have been using ATI 9 with the rig in my sig, because 11 was giving me the same probs you have. I created the boot cd from ATI 9 in windows, then use it to boot from. Because i did it that way, the Raid drivers are then on the boot cd. For some reason ATI 11 does'nt load the raid drivers when creating the boot cd. I would reccommend that you give ATI 9 a try, and see if it works better for you.
