Hi,

I am just trying out Acronis and I have an image of a HD which I'm trying to load through the Acronis boot manager in Virtual PC 2007.

Verifying the file outside of Vritual PC says its fine, inside, it says its corrupt.

Any ideas?

I have found you actually need to have the image on a VPC HDD (So have another image, create a new HDD and attach it to that image - then copy the .tib to that HDD. Now detach the drive and attach to new image)

Easier way is to shell out for ATI Echo Workstation with bare-metal restore, will convert direct to Virtual hard disk

phwoar! didn't know it could do that!
so you can straight away load the acronis image in vpc?

yup :) tried it on an old machine that was going kaput, loaded straight into a vhd. Ran it up, and away it went. It basically removes all device drivers etc.

Didn't believe it myself!

Sorry, thats confused the hell out of me!

I did try partitioning the Virtual HDD into two and put the image on D.

Still didnt like it though

Create another VHD, and attach to another image you already have running (Linux, Windows etc.) now, copy the acronis backup to this new drive in the virtual machine
Once copied, remove the new vhd from that image
Now, attach the vhd as a secondary drive to the image you are trying to create
Now, boot the Acronis disc through the image and it should see the secondary drive available with the image on

Of course, the thing probably won't boot as all of the HAL is different (hence my eventual use of the bare-metal restore addition)
