Looking for the best way to backup a new windows XP install with a few programs / drivers installed.I've seen norton ghost and acronis true image around.Which would you all recommend? Or is there a better solution? Cheers
If you have either a Seagate or Maxtor HDD installed on your system, you could use DiscWizard or MaxBlast which are both basically Acronis True Image Home 11, with one or two minor features removed, and both are free....
I've been using acronis for a long time without any problems.
I always backup my XP - it's very easy to do because acronis has user friendly intuitive interface.
So i can say that for me this software is pretty good and reliable.
I guess you could say it does a similar job in a way. Instead of making an image (backup file) of a hard drive state, it instead 'freezes' the hard drive so that every time you reboot the freeze is still in place and it is as though you can just restored from a fresh acronis/ghost image, but without the computer downtime.
Really handy for organisations that are prone to multiple users messing with settings..
