Ive got a master HDD 250gig and a slave HDD 250gig, Iam hoping to get acronis to create an image of my master onto my slave for a backup. Ive used about 115gig of space on my master HDD, with an image file will acronis compress the 115gig into a smaller size?

Thanks for any assistance :)

yes theres a option to compress the image file..

Acronis by default will compress. I backup 2 terminal servers which use approx 10 gig disk space. Acronis brings these down to about 3gig.

Yes it will. You can choose different compression levels:
  1. None
  2. Normal
  3. High
  4. Maximum
I normally use High ;)

But it also depends on what files are (mostly) on the partition/drive. For example, my partition with music, Acronis does not compress it by very much. Whereas the partition with Windows & programs, compresses by almost half

^ Will that not be because MP3 files already have compression?

My ~20Gb OS drive compresses to a 13Gb Acronis tib file with normal compression.

Yes. Was just letting OP know that he shouldn't expect much if files are mostly MP3 or even compressed videos, e.g. DivX, etc :)
