I've just got a copy of Acronis True Image Home, and purchased the CD Key to unlock it. Program seems really good, however I need some help with how to do a backup.

First problem I have it because I registered the trial version, I don't have a bootable CD. And secondly, I'm not sure on how to create a full system backup. I want to create a full system back up so I don't have to go through the hassle of reinstalling drivers etc when I install Windows. This way I can just chuck in the backup DVD and image my PC.

I'm looking at the program now, and it has a program called "Bootable Rescue Media Builder" Do I use this to create a bootable CD. And then use the True Image program to create a full system backup?

I've had a quick look and thats how I'm guessing I do it? Also, I select my DVD to burn the image to but it wont let me, so do I just create the image in a spare folder and burn the image to data DVD using Nero?

Yes :) With that you can create, restore, etc without going into OS. Handy if Windows is corrupted, etc.

I normally create images & then chuck them onto an external HD  To create on DVD/CDs, think you need to tell it to split the images.

This might also be useful ;)

If I want to do this...backup my Windows Installation, and everything to DVD so I can recover and switch easily between various OS's....do i select "Disks and Partitions" or "System State"

Can anyone help? Do I select do i select "Disks and Partitions" or "System State" to do a full backup which can restore my whole working Windows installation

I have created a spanned disc image across 4 DVDs, but how do I burn these onto bootable recovery DVDs, it will only let me do this from ISO files :(, my DVD drive doesnt show up :(

make a bootable cd with acronis files on it, then once that's loaded you can remove the cd and insert your dvd's to run the restore

-the acronis files will be stored in ram until you reboot :)

much faster to backup and restore to an external usb2 hard drive

you beat me to it :D

Can anyone help with my query of which backup to use for a full system backup of operating system, drivers etc. I cant make my mind up between "Disks and Partitions" or "System State" and I need to get something done

i always use disks and partitions, when you restore it it removes ALL data currently on the hard drive

I have just got this piece of software myself after ghost did not find a sata drive on a system I just built. So downloaded the trial to check it out and was pretty happy with it so bought it and runs perfect. Created a bootable media disk and bobs ya uncle. Job done.

bahh dammit my other drive is a dynamic disk

Anyone know if norton ghost can restore from a dyanmic disk????

Thanks in advance
