anyone got experience with acrylic stuff ?

following on from wanting to design my own res / headers etc and also having a water feature.

im thinking of buying some acrylic and making up some designs

any ideas on types, scratch resistence, moulding, bonding etc.

There's cast and extruded. The former has better mechanical properties, the latter better dimensional tolerance (stock thickness).

You can glue/weld it with acetone, acetone+acrylic or even proper shop bought glue. Otherwise screw it together, "t" slots cut from one sheet with a nut in the flat bit let you do this without drilling into the edge.

It's brittle, avoid sharp internal corners or it'll crack under stress.

That's all that comes to mind, i did some research while sketching a case design a few months back. I really should get that cut. Have fun :)

cheers for that i guess thats the only thing to use ? any alternatives or is it the best material for what im thinking ? i will have a look at sheet prices etc.

what about bending and forming with heat or is that a problem?
