Well say i wanted to mod a window into an Akasa Eclipse-62, where would be the best place to get an acrylic panel from? And what size would i need? The whole side panel? Less? Do i cut that as well or just stick it on the back (double sided sticky tape i assume

). And what would be the best way to cut the metal? Drill and hacksaw, then file? Or something else? I have a few tools at my disposal, and i might be able to convince my DT department to let me use something...
Thanks in advance.
the electronic bay is quite good for acrylic and you can get it cut to size.. try and get polycarbonate if poss as acrylic is quite brittle but i suppose it would do.
for the metal, you need a metal saw that has no frame, just a handle..
mark out the hole you want to cut, keeping a fair distance from the edge of the panel for looks and to help keep its stifffness, maybe check some online stores to see what manufactured ones look like?
drill a few holes enough to get your saw through, cut out, file off burrs.
source some rubber edgeing to cover the rough saw cut's (you will never get it neat by hand!) it will look like a U in shape. glue gun into place.
the acrylic plastic should be around 30mm larger in width and height han the hole, that 15mm on each edge.
to attach the window, apply some packers to the edges (with acrylic glue or araldite if you got poly carb) of the window so it doesn't bottom out the rubber seal, glue the window with the packers to the cash with a strong glue like araldite, if you are keen you could screw it together but i wouldn't bother.
hth!
edit - the acrylic will probably set you back around 6 quid, depends on the size, thickness and colour though. also, if your dt dep't has a laser cutter, get some engraving done

(will only work with acrylic)
