Action camera HDR-AS50 vs GoPro hero session?

Looking to buy my first action camera mostly for airsoft with a bit of cycling.

I was so set on the Go pro session but the AS50 looks really nice and same spec I think.
Also with the ability to change the battery mid game as I don't think you can with the go pro?

My only major concern about the AS50 is getting protective casing for the camera body if taking hits in the side of it.

I was in the same boat as you,get a lesser branded action camera or gopro,I went for the hopro and glad I did,they are really good and produce some great video,I don't know what other action cameras can do but the gopro is where I'll be staying.

Thanks I do like the gopro but the battery life is what's putting me off.
The girlfriend was saying about you can get battery packs then you plug in to use as an external battery.
Not sure how good they are.

I use the GoPro Hero5 and it's a great bit of kit. In terms of battery - with GPS on you get about 90-120 minutes, which isn't great. On my bike I have a small USB battery pack that plugs in to it. Break the water sealing of course.

The hero5 has the GPS stuff too - it's not the easiest element to use though!

I was reading up with some battery packs you can't use the camera at the same time?
Is that certain cameras or some battery packs that have that issue?

I believe there are some GoOro hard cases for non hero 5 users . Which have a aperture for micro usb charging cable. On my Hero 4 black i have used smart phone chargers, and power packs which work really well to keep the GoPro topped up. I tested by doing a time laspe video which lasted hours apx using power packs. I have 3200ma, and 10500ma power packs.

Have just done the London to Southend bike ride - recorded about 6 hours of footage with my Anker 10k mAH battery. Noticed it doesn't *charge* the GoPro 5, but it does power it.

The Hero 5 is a USB-C connector by the way.

Thank you I have ordered the GoPro hero session with a bike mount and picatinny rail mount for my guns.

Going to get something like this later so I can use the gopro on my pistols.

And getting another cheap Protective Frame Case then glue plstic panels where the holes so no BB can hit the gopro at all.
