I did a sfc /scannow via cmd since i had a couple of BSODS; and now, though it could be coincodense my action centre says i have no anti virus or anti spyware software installed when i have avast runniung. Any ideas? I could tell windows not to inform me of issue pertaining to security but i would rather not

Does reinstalling your AV package sort this issue out? Is it definitely an action centre message, rather than a rogue program posing as the action centre (sometimes you can tell as the icons are slightly different, although they do a good job of looking very similar)? If you do have a rogue program, this could also explain your random BSOD's. Do you know what they said in them?

If it's a home PC, download and run Malwarebytes (www.malwarebytes.org) and Spybot S&D (www.safer-networking.org) see if they find anything that they shouldn't. My experience with Avast wasn't 100% perfect, I switched to Microsoft Security Essentials some time ago and have been happy with how well it works.

Yes it is a genuine action center sign

My pc is clean according to malwerbytes, avast, windows defender

Ill try reinstalling avast but i would hope that windows and/or avast would upadte and the issue would resolve itself?

Any ideas as to what randomly caused this; could it have been the "scan now" i did on my OS disk via CMD?

Doubtful that it's the cause. I'd also suggest perhaps changing your AV package to Microsoft Security Essentials. It works very well.
