My SIM card stopped working for some reason on Monday so I called Orange who are sending a new sim card.

In the meantime I thought i'd update the software on my phone to iOS 5 but when trying to activate it wont proceed due to it having no SIM card.

Is there any way round this or do I just need to wait for Orange to get their finger out and send me my new SIM (hopefully it will be here today (Thursday).

Does this mean my phone is useless until new SIM arrives?

Thanks

Hi mate it is not possible to activate without a simcard. If you have a spare orange payandgo then you could cut it to size, if it is an iPhone 4 or normal sized simcard if it's not iPhone 4 and activate your iPhone.

Bashy.

hi jamesy505, its not your sim card mate, if your using an iphone 3gs which has previous been jailbroken at some point your more than likely running the 6.15 baseband, and that baseband stops your iphone from recognising your sim card, meaning you cant activate ios 5.
