I have a dfi lanparty and an opteron 165 but it don't seem to have the second core activated as task manager > one graph per cpu option is greyed out.

I have been to device manager > computer > ACPI Uniprocessor CPU and changed it to ACPI Multiprocessor CPU but it doesn't seem to have changed anything

Does the BIOS recognise it as a dual core processor?

Did you reboot after you changed it to the multi-processor HAL?

I did reboot yes, but how do I check whether the bios recognises it, I can't find anything in the bios indicating it as a dual core

When the POST screen comes up, after its gone past the graphics card BIOS screen you should see a black screen with the processor listed at the top. Some systems are quite fast though and may flash through this before the monitor has even come out of stand by. Ahhh, sorry mate, I thought it was an x2 you had but its an opteron....im not sure whether it will say dual core processor after opteron on the POST screen but it may do...

Hi

I flashed a newer bios on the mobo and even though I thought I'd screwed up (it wouldn't post) after clearing the cmos I booted and everything seems to be correct.

Thanks for your help
