hey. i know u guys here understand a lot of pc's can u help me with one thing? i cant find anything that would explain me this. i have 2560x1440 native rez monitor. i have some games that i want to play on 1080p [for better performance] but when i change the rez in game i don't see any performance difference. would it be because when i do it in windows i set it to 1080p but it doesn't change active signal resolution? i set my desktop resolution to 1920x1080 and my active signal stays on 2560x1440 thats why i dont see any performance difference or i just don't understand something?

and i do it in advanced display settings

Windows res shouldn't affect games as far as I'm aware. The in-game options should be enough. Set windows to the full native resolution for your monitor.

Some games have a resolution scaling option, ensure this is set to 100% to match your selected default resolution in the game (or lower if you want to try get even more from it). Setting fullscreen mode (as opposed to windowed or borderless) may also help.

It may be you're CPU bound. The more stress you take off the GPU the more the CPU can end up working. If the CPU is pinned at 100% (Use MSI Afterburner to check both GPU and CPU usage in a busy part of your game) it might be worth increasing things a little to work the GPU harder to find a decent balance. It's also worth looking out for guides to optimising some games. A lot of settings make little difference visually but can kill performance.
