Active valve speakers

all speaker design is a compromise(horn, labrynth, ribon hybrids....even FREDs) but I doubt that they are used in the studio with only 10w of output. They may be perfect for someone who wants a quiet warm sound or to match it with harsh far east components.
just my 2p's worth

I've only heard a valve powered set-up once and it wasn't anything modern or high-end, just an all in one radio and vinyl player in a cabinet the size of a fridge. I think Noah listened to it whilst building the ark... Anyway the sound was something else. I thought the whole valve amp thing was just old people listening through rose tinted hearing aids but I was wrong.

It would be interesting to hear them but something like that would be useless for me as my speakers have to do everything and spend more time doing home cinema duties than playing music.

A few thoughs come to mind:
- Why has the seller listed two sets of frequency responses?
- Valve amps come in a variety of configurations, e.g. SET, push pull, would have been nice to know the way these are setup
- Lower powered valve amps (and these have a claimed 10w output per channel) like to be linked up with an efficient par of speakears. 86db/w is roughly on par with my old Linn Kabers, and they are NOT considered to be efficient. Most valve amps are recommended to be used with 90db/w plus designs (at least). Assuming the specs are correct, these will never play loud in a million years.
Having said all of that, clearly I've never heard them, and they could be amazing.
Personally I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole.
