Active window -disactivating!

Really annoying problem, the active window keeps disactivating itself, even though I am not clicking outside it (i.e window in use becomes greyed out). Even while typing this I have to keep clicking into the window to activate it to continue typing. It happens every 10-15 seconds and makes typing very diffucult!

Happens with all applications (explorer, word, winamp etc..)

I have a wireless mouse with full battery and an excellent wireless signal. I have plugged an alternative mouse and the same problem occurs.

Any ideas guys as this is driving me up the wall!
 
Have you got yahoo messenger with voice installed.

Also the yahoo toolbar installed (even if disabled)

Uninstall these and try again.
 
Don't have that installed but will look for unnecessary programs that I have installed.

I seem to remember tweakui having an automatic mouse tracker thingy on it, where it would auto select windows and buttons. Probably does not apply here but just in case.

Maybe check your mouse driver properties if you installed official drivers.
