Right, when i was doing some work for my dad his IT people had this cool little web app. i went on their website and installed an activex control and they could remote desktop the computer..

is there a free way to do this myself? would be handy for helping people out with their computers without having to install stuff.

Yeah i want to host a site, where the user goes onto. installs activex control and i can take control of there computer (legitimately of course!!)

justs its a pain to get people to install tightvnc and stuff :(

Isn't exactly what i was looking for but even easier, couldn't be simpler!

Zolved.

just need to test it but by the looks of it its gonna get a 10/10 from me :D

What is wrong with the Windows XP Remote Assistance that is built into the OS?

This sounds very helpful for when my old man has problems with his PC, he's bloody useless.

I'd very much appreciate your thoughts on it :)

I think remote assistance is only available on XP professional.

this activex control method involves windows2003 and installing IIS which is a real system hog of a webserver. you're much better off using a free vnc solution which supports connecting through a java plugin in a web browser. :)

My stripped down vista dosent have it, and its still far too much effort for the sort of people im dealing with.

looked into that, yeah IIS and all that seemed like a bit of a headache, looked into single click VNC but still was too much, far simpler to use this other program :)
