Ive been using this software for years now and to be honest ive found it to be brilliant. Find loads of spy wear and is compltely unintrusive in terms of system hogging etc.

Just wondering if anyone else uses it and what their thoughts are?

thanks

Used it for few years along with Spy bot search and destroy and never had any problems.

that microsoft one looks rather interesting - wonder why ive never heard about it? may take a look at that actually. using adaware really negates the need for much else although im not running any active anti virus software - mind you, im not stupid enough to visit a web page i shouldnt or open an email i shouldnt.

yeah I have used it for a number of years until I updated to the 2008 version and it crashed half way through scanning. It sorted itself out after various updates but I just got bored removing tracking cookies and nothing else. I just haven't had any issues for ages so kinda stopped bothering to use it now

Not a bad program. Completely useful tool. Worked well in the days with SB S&D as mentioned by others.

However , this has been removed and replaced on my system by the highly capable A-Squared free program. Will find all that ad-aware does and more. Trust me. For free its worth trying out.

I love it when people say they've never had a virus when they've not got any anti-virus software... how do they know they havent?!

malwarebytes antimalware (mbam) and spybot are what I tend to use..

along with nod32

Microsoft Security Essentials is what I'll be leaving on clients machines from now on though

Used to use Adaware when malware was new on the scene but lately there are better programs available ie malwarebytes, Spybot etc.
Also a couple of years back there was a lot of speculation that Adaware's authors Lavasoft were taking payments to exclude some malware from being detected by their software.

yes i know amte - but ive ont got one yet! hope i have not jinxed it.

how the hell do you know? My mate was happily running his machine for 4 years with no AV on it, then one day, he asked me to give it a scan as it was running a little slow. So, avg free + a while later = 276 different viruses and around 574 total (a lot were the same virus but from different versions he got, it was installed in more than one location).

True, i am currently not running any AV, have done a spybot scn occasionally, only reason is i want to instal kasperky that came with my mob instead of avg or w/e, but i can never be assed to go get the cd/stop doing whatever else im doing to go get it.
