I have two desktops that used to be connected via 2 belkin f5d7000 wireless network cards both have the same and latest drivers installed they both have the status connected but I can not ping either machine from the other.

The only thing I noticed that changed from when this setup was working fine and now is that when its establishing a network address it takes a very long time where as it used to be almost instant.

I've tried reinstalling drivers on both pc's, removing the network connection settings and redoing them, rebooting both pc's, repairing the connection enabling and disabling them hundreds of times.

At this point I'm contemplating taking a hammer to both pc's but I after the initial satisfaction I know ultimately I'll regret it :P

If anyone has an incling as to what may be the issue or can suggest a way to troubleshoot it my ears would be eternally grateful as my wife could then stop going on about not being able to get on facebook :P

cheers for any response :)

I checked the cards themselves today and noticed that one of them has a solid tx/rx light but the others is not lit.

I'm not 100% on what this means exactly would I be right in thinking it should be solid green to indicate it is ready to recieve and send data, would this indicate a problem with the wireless card itself? or could it be drivers etc also?

I'm not clued up on networking in general so any advice on anything from above would be massively appreciated also if more info is required please let me know what you need and I'll do my best to get it :)

Really sorry to bump this but I'm at my wits end, if anyone could reply even if its just to say the light not being on on the card is normal or recomend someway I can troubleshoot this problem.

cheers all and sorry once again to bump it but I just have no idea what to do now :(
