AD Trusts, cross domain file access fun

Hello, I've been pulling my hair out all this week regarding this issue - basically, I'm not sure where I'm getting cockblocked.

I think it's because of the firewall to the root DCs, as only the DCs in uk.new.net can access root.new.net. But unfortunately, root.new.net isn't controlled by me.

Ideas?

The error reminds me of his...http://support.microsoft.com/kb/944043

basically admt would fail to migrate 2003 and xp machines, with a very similar, error until the above patch was applied.
