Hi all.Got my asus hero x board with the 8770k and its running at 5.2 never going over 64c after hours of gaming. ATM I have the cpu voltage set to adaptive. Am I right in thinking that adaptive increases and decreases the power to the cpu depending on the load its under? Could I possible get a higher OC out of the system with manual?

I like to use adaptive over manual if you can get it stable as it will under volt when not under load and cut down heat output

If you want to try for a bigger oc with manual save your current setting in bios and give it a go. You have nothing to lose

Nice overclock btw
Is cpu retail oem or binned?

Adaptive is so simple to use, that there's no real reason not to (depending on the platform and required divider). Just enter the total voltage you require in the additional turbo voltage box. Keep in mind you cannot set a value lower than the default VID for a given ratio
