Good afternoon all,

Looking at getting an aux-in or USB-in (or both) into my 55 plate Corolla. I have been contemplating getting a new head-unit in but then I read about these adaptor interfaces, and kept seeing the name Connects2. Its about £30 vs the minimum £159 I have seen for a decent touchscreen double din HU.

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with them, and more specifically if they are actually worth the money? My main concern would be poor audio quality via the line-in, as I am somewhat sensitive to audio quality.

Alterantively, are there any other options or products I have not considered?

Thanks!

We had a Connects2 unit in the wifes Puma a few years back. Can't remember a great deal about it so it can't have been too bad.

When she came back to Toyota and got a mk3 MR2 we ended up with a GROM unit in there which does the job (she only uses it to play music of a USB drive)

I think most of these third party adaptors for car head units are Connects2.

Had to use various adaptors in the cars I've owned when upgrading the stereos and never had any problems with them :)

Pretty much every car I've installed a 3rd party HU into has used connects2 products to interface with things like steering wheel controls, parking sensors, etc

They are pretty much the de-facto brand for this kind of stuff.

I had a Connects2 adapter in my E46 so that the steering wheel controls worked with the Parrot hands free kit I installed. It was faultless and I wouldn't hesitate to buy one of their adapters again.

Why must the aftermarket HU be double din touchscreen?

You can get a Bluetooth/AUX/USB single din for £65 though they do look quite cheap and crappy, they work excellently

Because a single din player plus a blank plate or cubby hole would drive me mad in terms of the aesthetics, especially when considering the shape of the trim around the HU. Plus as you say, they mostly look seriously crappy. I had considered them, but swiftly ruled them out.

Thanks for the replies re the Connect2.
