I'm looking for an alternative to Adaware now as AdawareSE update srevers do not download updates anymore by the looks of it and Adaware 2007 uses running service/process in the BG which I do not want,

I have Spybot which I use and wondered what Adaware alternatives there are and free ?

Ta!

I also use Spybot. I've recently dropped Ad-Aware. I just use Spybot for its scanner and immunisations AND SpywareBlaster for its immunisations. :)

I just decided that Ad-Aware and Spybot was overkill considering I'm quite a conscientious browser of *** Interweb and so Ad-Aware and Spybot found very little.

I am like yourself! browsing with commons sense etc but you always get tracking cookies that can be deleted by spybot/adaware :p

I used to set Firefox to always ask me about cookies. Thus I could accept cookies for say OcUK and BBC.co.uk but could refuse the tracking cookies.

Now I use Opera, I do the same. All sites have to ask me to set cookies. First party cookies I accept, third party cookies I just refuse for whole domain and Opera just does the rest for me. :D
