Hai everyone

I've gone back to using Internet Explorer after using Opera and Chrome for a while. Opera just went randomly bad for me and Chrome kept having weird hangs. I cba with them, so good old reliable IE it is.

However, one thing I did like about Opera was the very good ad blocking software. It blocked everything including the annoying YouTube adverts.

Is there a good equivalent for IE that you guys can recommend?

Thanks!

Well, I'm typing this from Firefox and I guess it's OK... but then I liked Chrome and Opera to start but then just got fed up, whereas with IE it works, is universally compatible, and always seems to have the feature I want (apart from Adblock :p). Maybe I'm not using these other browsers as powerfully as I could but I guess I'm reluctant to change my browsing habits once again only to be potentially annoyed in the future.

Just noticed that Firefox keeps all the tabs in one process instance. I guess this means if one crahses they all go, something that's a bit annoying. It also means I can't review the open Firefox tabs from the Windows start bar, which I can do with IE whether they are all in one window or not.

You can if you go into about:config and set browser.taskbar.previews.enable to "true". :)

I guess the crashing thing might be a valid concern, although to be honest I haven't personally encountered it enough to be a major problem.

Ah good to know in case I do use it :p

I don't have regular crashes either but I can often have a billion windows open (16GB RAM has made me lazy...), and so them all going down is a bit of a pain if they aren't in a status that can be reloaded to.

I've just downloaded the TPL lists from here: http://www.fanboy.co.nz/adblock/ie.html

They seem to work well. No idea on the YouTube situation as of yet, but for blocking adverts in general they seem good!

I tried those as well, but it doesn't work as well as the AdBlock Plus extension in Firefox (not sure for the one in Chrome, but I guess its the same). It blocks the adverts but leaves all the elements in place so you end up with lots of blank spaces where the adverts would usually be.

Regarding the Windows 7 taskbar tab previews (I missed them too :)), you can enable those under the 'Tabs' settings:

Thanks for the tips!

The IE TPL seems to be blocking YouTube ads but, yes, as you said, the ugly elements remain with a little "TPL'd" logo:

I happened to notice something about using a CSS template to sort that. I'll investigate!
