add or remove programs...'old' updates

Family PC running painfully slow (that's why I password protect mine!)

I look at the hard drive and see 7% free, so I start deleting loads of guff that been downloaded by my loved ones...but on this PC it seems to list all of the updates/security patches that have ever been dowloaded. My PC doesn't have these

So in "add or remove programs", can I just uninstall them?

I note that XP SP3 is on my list so I won't delete that off the family PC's list

You technically can, but unless you know that one of them is directly causing problems, i'd be inclined to leave them. Instead, there is a tickbox at the top of the add/remove program box that says display updates, untick it. Problem solved. Removing them will probably do more harm than good.
