Add remove programs on Citrix

Who do you need to go through add remove programs rather than simply double clicking the exe?

I just ran an exe (by double clicking) and got a roasting for it at work. When I asked why it was different he just said to leave it.


What does add/remove do over the standard way of installing something?

My boss was trying to install something called 'Properties Extender.exe' on one of our Citrix servers. He said it wouldnt install so i went onto the server, double clicked the exe and told him that it looks like it had installed because it came up with do you want to modify, change or remove. He then asked how i knew
