Added 2gb Memory

Hey all,

I bought another 2gb Ram for my Evga 650i so in total have 4 gb. I know it aint the best ram in the world but its doing my job ok.
I'm running Win XP Pro and using a E6750 2.66Ghz and clocked stable at 3.5Ghz.

Problem is, in the Windows properties its showing up as this

Only 2.50Ghz Ram

I also done a benchmark test and coming up with this

I dont know if this is any good or not as dont know a great deal about memory settings, but I know mine is set a 5-5-5-15-2t at the minute.

Can you experts explain a bit to me, think I remember someone saying windows takes some off your ram but didnt think it would take 1 1/2 Gig

theres a ~3.2gb limit on 32 bit OS' not sure why yours is capped at 2.5 though =/

its capped after all the hardware that needs memory space has had its share. The hardware on the system must need to have acess to 1.5GB of RAM for what ever they need it for. Leaving 2.5 for general use

Pretty strange I thought as when I had 2x 1gb sticks and 2x 512gb (3gb) sticks in it still read as 2.5gb. So according to windows it was using 512mb out of the 3gb and now its using the exra gig I put in.
Supposes I should have mentioned I was using 3gb before the upgrade?

I might format the system and see if it makes a difference. Also, is there any setting I need to change in the Memory Timing Settings in the Bios.

This is what its sitting at now.

Theres often a setting you can change in the BIOS to detect more RAM. No idea what its called though.

only a 64 bit operating system such as vista 64 will recognise and fully use 4gb of ram
