So recently bought a Xbox 360, and downgraded my PC a bit as the only games I am playing are COD4, UT3 and come older games.

Have been having a great time on the console, and don't really get tempted to game on the PC at the moment... but I have this annoying urge to splash out on GPU's again!

I just keep going on to etailers and looking at cards to possibly set up a crossfire system (has SLI before, but never crossfire)

I know that any one card from HD 3850 and up will play all games (bar crysis) to an acceptable level right now, and that getting 2 GPU's is really pointless, but the flippin temptation is overwhelming!

And not because I want to play games.... jsut because I want to mess with the hardware and see what I can get out of it.

Anyone else addicted to upgrading their PC? Have you broken the cycle? Did it require a support group? :D

Hi First Post don’t you know. Support groups and counselling do not help because nobody has ever been able to withdraw from Overclocking and upgrading!!! Me myself have had a great time Overclocking EVERYTING from Bikes, Scooters (in the sixty’s) And cars, now it’s PC’s as you well know you will not be satisfied until you blow it. “WHAT A RUSH” when you overdo things only to find out its all OK. You know you want the fastest thing on the planet just because it’s feels good and its Adrenaline in the form of a faster, faster, faster, but now we can do it with the click of a mouse button. Yeh Great stuff. As far as funds are concerned if we had plenty it wouldn’t be so great. Just think about it. P.

i know how to solve your problems!!

firstly you give me all your funds and equiptment and this stops you from overclocking and playing.
secondly it helps my additction :D

well its worth a shot
funds are always a problem and if u had the funds there would be another problem cos we always want what we havent got!!!

Welcome to the Upgradaholic Anonymous.. Go on you know you want it..

I had the urge a lot in the past few months and before I knew it I had a quad core, 4gb ram, new mobo, new GFX, new 22" screen...etc. But I'm really happy with my rig now and thankfully there isn't really anything on the market atm that's worth upgrading for.

Also the bank balance really scared me so I'm pretty sure I'm out of the loop now..

i have stopped upgrading my computer when the manufacturers decided to double prices of their hardware. decent motherboards cost like £200, graphic cards are £400 as always and 2 gb memory is £300. simple aluminum case is £70. this is absolutely a joke

I'd stop aswell if i was paying those prices..what do you use your PC for...do you really need such expensively priced parts??
