Doing a little sorting today, and i've decided i might aswell add my 2nd router into the loop.
Let me just explain the layout a little.
Modem and router sit in the my brothers room (was my room), and all PC's in the house (3 of currently) run wires into that room (nightmare i know).
When i have a buddy round or working on a PC i usually use a 4 port hub/switch. Its not mine, but my buddy doesnt need it..... however i have another router sitting here doing nothing and would prefer to use this.
I thought (not much exp at networking) that i could simply use the 2nd router in the same fashion as the hub/switch and just have it dish out further IP's.....
Like this is how i'm hoping to have it.
Currently the router uses (router ip is 192.168.1.1)
192.168.1.100 for PC1
192.168.1.101 for PC2
and so on....
So router 2 grabs say..
192.168.1.102
Then it needs to dish out a different IP range right?......
Router 2 ip is 192.168.1.2
So i opted for .... 192.168.2.100, 192.168.2.101 and so on...
Which works, except the internet wont work.
I can't find a specific guide, but i remember reading something about using a routing table..... anyone know if this is what i'm after?....
Any help appreciated, its not urgent but i'd like to know for future reference anyway......
