Adding 480 into loop...do I need to upgrade?

Hi All,

Currently cooling a 8350 using a 240 TFC Xchanger rad (nice and thick!) and a XSPC dual bay res/pump.

I was wondering with this setup would I be ok to just add the 480 into the loop as is or would I need to add maybe another radiator?

I am all about value so if I can get away with cooling using my current setup and run at my current clock speeds but reduce noise and heat within the case by removal of the GFX card heatsink I would be happy.

Thanks!

Would need to add another Rad to be on the safe side. but then again u might get away with not adding one, depends on your idle/load temperatures. Also if using poor quality fans on the Radiator getting better ones of could help as well.

Thanks for the info.

I guess best thing to do is get the waterblock and fit it to the loop. Then maybe get away with adding something like a 120mm if needed along with better fans.

You won't be able to get a full block for the RX480 Nitro+, but you can get the universal ones that cover the GPU only.

It depends entirely on why you water cool. If you just want quieter than air and don't mind the temps just being better than air then you will be fine with your rad. If you like to see load temps about the same as some peoples idle air temps then you will need more rad.

You would need to find a way to cool the RAM and VRM. On the adaptor kits that you can get for some AIOs they typically directly liquid cool the GPU, and have a metal heatsink with a fan blowing over the other components
